Alan Glass

TiG team member Alan Glass can truly justify the term ‘legendary songwriter.”
Born in New Orleans, Alan absorbed a rainbow of musical styles from that amazing city. That exotic mix informs his love of all genres of music and his hit song writing credits totally reflect this, from ‘Soul’ to ‘Country’ to ‘Rock’ to ‘Dance.’ and even ‘Opera’ !
Alan will be joining us to discuss his creative approach to writing hit songs, craft killer productions and the discuss real ‘business’ of music in today’s environment.
His credits include songs for:
Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Kenny G, Earth Wind and Fire, Shena Easton Lighthouse Family, Maxi Priest, George Benson, Aswad, Liberty X, Mis-Teeq plus so countless more including X Factor winners all over Europe.

Pete Dyson has been an independent legal advisor working within the music industry for over 20 years in areas specialising in such areas as recording and publishing contracts. He also deals with the television and movie industry especially where issues interface with music.

Nashville’s Lost Hollow are Tommy and Lorrie Harden.
Tommy is one of the elite session players & producers on the Nashville scene. He has written, played and produced for countless star artists including Alan Jackson, Reba MacIntire, Beth Neilson Chapman, Rodney Crowell, Waylon Jennings and many more.. He’s even played at the White House for 3 different presidents !
Tommy is a producer, arranger, songwriter and session musician and Lorrie a respected hit songwriter and vocalist. Between them they have that rare understanding of the British music scene and how to write for both sides of the Atlantic.
They bring the heart of Nashville to London and The Insider’s Guide.

Rowena Morgan

Networking Guru
Networking Consultant and Musical Geisha founder, Rowena Morgan, will be joining us and sharing her deep knowledge and insight into the world of how to network effectively within the music industry to enable you to make the contacts you need to make within the industry and what to do afterwards to make the most of the contacts you do make. She will also explain the psychology of networking so even a wall flower can network with confidence.

In 2009 Rowena commenced 5 years of work at BASCA, home of the Ivor Novello Awards as their Business Development Officer, primarily responsible for recruiting top songwriters and composers to join the organisation. Overwhelmed by how many of these songwriters and composers who needed her assistance with meeting useful people within the music industry despite many of them being award winning and having gone platinum, she founded the Musical Geisha Networking Nights so that she could help as many people as possible in one night. She has now been running these events for 5 years for up to 150 people a time, some of whom now fly in from even America and Europe to attend this event. In 2013 she was made an Honoured Friend of LIPAThe Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts – for her services in introducing guest speakers for their students. She was given this award for her services alongside music industry luminaries such as Marc Ronson and Seymour Stein.

Steve Tannett

Steve is a music industry veteran with a rich and successful career having been involved in music since 1977 when he signed a recording deal as a member of punk band Menace with his future boss and legendary entrepreneur Miles Copeland.

Steve has been involved in literally hundreds of artists careers as a manager, label boss (IRS Records and Ark 21) and a successful music publisher.
Steve’s wealth of knowledge, contacts and his artist friendly approach has served him well with associations to many multi platinum selling artists including REM, The Police, Duran Duran, Black Sabbath, Sting, Jools Holland, Belinda Carlisle ,Zucherro Paul Carrack, The Alarm, Chaz Jankel, Peter Frampton and many, many more.
His love of Rock music is well documented having signed the legendary Tony Iommi as well as Black Sabbath in the late 1980’s . Among the many classic artists Steve has worked with he cites “Night of the Guitar” as a high point which saw nine of the worlds greatest Rock guitarists unite for an unforgettable tour . The show included the late Alvin Lee, Robbie Krieger (The Doors) Steve Howe (Yes) among the stellar lineup.

For the last two years he has guided the career of legendary Drummer Ginger Baker one of the most important musicians in Rock Music as a founder member of Cream alongside Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce in the late 60’s..
He is currently working with Bernie Marsden, one of the UK’S finest guitarists and founder member of the multi platinum Whitesnake on “Fretmania – A Night of Guitars” a touring concept for spring 2017.

Most recently Steve has become the co-managing director of Marshall Records – The brand new record label in partnership with the legendary amplification company Marshall Amps. Marshall have been at the forefront of live and recorded music since the 60s, but are now taking their first steps content creation and artist development, choosing Steve to lead the change – a challenge he’s more than ready for!

Steve Tannett’s insider knowledge and advice is invaluable to artists and songwriters starting out, coming back to the industry or to those wanting to take their careers to the next level.

Charlie Dore

Songwriter
Although best known as one of the UK’s most respected songwriters, Charlie enjoys a multi-faceted career that includes acting in film, TV & radio, composition for film and TV, writing for radio and comedy improvisation.
Her songs have won two ASCAP awards, an Ivor Novello nomination, both the Overall Grand and the Folk Prize from the International Acoustic Music Awards and in 2012 and Best Album Lyrics from the Indy Acoustic Project for her album Cheapskate Lullabyes.
Known for her bittersweet, often quietly subversive lyrics, she is one of a handful of UK writers to have success across many genres, defined by the range of artists to have covered her songs, including Tina Turner, George Harrison, Celine Dion, Lisa Stansfield, Paul Carrack, Ricky Ross, and Jimmy Nail, notching up along the way a UK No 1, US No 4, No 11 for her own Pilot of the Airwaves (still on the core Radio 2 playlist) and top10 hits in Italy, Germany, France and Israel. She released her 8th album, Milk Roulette last year and is touring across the UK throughout 2016.

 

Clare Scivier

Clare came into the music business as a talent scout for Chrysalis Music and moved on to A&R, before getting Cooltempo off the ground in the early days of Hip Hop and House. She moved on to set up Deconstruction Records with her husband and they had their first international smash hit with Black BoxRide On Time
By the time Clare went on to become A&R for Dance at Polydor she felt it was time to find a path that would compliment her music experience but put her more in touch with the creative spark of the making of music.
Clare studied and became one of the country’s leading artist development coaches and mentors .

Rob Flanagan

Rob Flanagan is the drummer for Some Velvet Morning, whose credits include music for the movies ‘Kick-Ass’ & ‘Filth’ and most recently a Europe wide advert for Renault Megane. In addition to crowdfunding £100,000 of fan investment for the band, Rob’s other business interests have been focused on music publishing, where he has worked with Cutting Edge, Cooking Vinyl, Manfred Mann, The Yardbirds, Altitude Music and Bill Bailey amongst others.

Tim Fraser is a multi-platinum songwriter who’s songs have been covered by artists such as Tina Turner, Billy Myers, Lulu, Joana Zimmer, Kaybee Cashmore, Ricki Lee Coulter, Poloroid, Louise Setara, Beaulah, Lost Hollow, Marcella Detroit, Tammy Weis, X Factor winners and many more. In 2000 Rob Davis wrote the record phenomenon of the year – Spiller’s ‘If This Ain’t Love’ . He then trumped it with the boundary crossing pop single of the year – Kylie’s ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’, co-written & co-produced with Cathy Dennis, which went to No.1 in over 25 countries, and earned them 3 Ivor Novello awards : most performed , best international, and best dance song.
An accomplished producer, and guitar and keyboard player, Rob also saw his song ‘I Need A Miracle’ for Fragma hit the No.1 spot, and added the top line to the underground instrumental sleeper ‘Right On’ by Silicone Soul, and co-wrote the hits ‘Get Over You’ for Sophie Ellis Bextor (No 2). ‘When I Lost You’ for Sarah Whatmore (No 6), and solely wrote ‘Down Boy’ for Holly Valance (No2).

Helienne Lindvall

Helienne Lindvall is an award-winning professional songwriter, musician and music and media writer for publications including the Guardian. Hailing from Sweden, she worked as a session singer, recording artist and performer in Stockholm and NYC before settling in London, where she signed a publishing deal with BMG Scandinavia. Since then she’s been working with recording artists on both sides of the Atlantic, including Roger Sanchez and Big Daddy Wilson, collaborating with award-winning writers such as Jörgen Elofsson (Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears), Patrik Berger (Icona Pop, Robyn) and Steve McEwan (Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood).
From 2008, Helienne started championing creators’ rights, when she was given a weekly music blog at the Guardian. Since then she’s also written for numerous other publications around the world, including Digital Music News and The Australian. She appears regularly on TV, including Sky News and BBC.
Helienne is a board director of the British Academy of Songwriters Composers and Authors, and recently became head of business relations for music rights management platform Auddly.com, co-owned by hitmakers Max Martin, Abba’s Björn Ulvaeus and Avicii manager Ash Pournouri. She remains active as a professional musician and songwriter.
